Anyone see the similarity?????

HAHAHAHA! Thanks Steph for pointing this out! My daughter looks like a Glo Worm... Nice!!!

Ear Infections! And presents! And Christmas! OH MY!

Merry Christmas Everyone and Happy Birthday Jesus! I hope everyone had a blessed holiday and was able to enjoy plenty of time with family and friends and eat lots of food! Isn't that what it's all about?? Our holiday weekend started off on the wrong start by finding out that Lidia had another double ear infection on Tuesday. This time she ran a 101 - 102 temperature for several days until Christmas. After her fever broke, the antibiotics decided to give Lidia horrible gas and diarrhea! (Too much information? Maybe... but you have to get all the facts to know what we are going through so you can feel sorry for both of us! hahaha) Needless to say, since last Tuesday, noone in our household has gotten much sleep, if any. She is just miserable! So G'ma Schneiter and I took Lidia back to the doctor yesterday. (I needed a little push to take her back and some moral support.) So the doctor determined that she still had the double ear infection and that the antibiotics must not be working so we all agreed to give her a shot of antibiotics to get her to feel better faster and also to put her on oral antibiotics as well. She slept much better last night so I'm optimistic that this time she will get better! I wish it was me that was sick because I hate seeing and hearing her miserable!
The above picture shows how Lidia has been most of the time this past week and the below picture is how she will be seconds later... She's wants to be happy at least!!

Besides the sickness, Christmas went well! We went to church Christmas Eve and then stayed at G'ma and G'pa Schneiters house that evening since it is tradition. We ate Chili, played games, and basically just layed around waiting for Christmas morning! I think Lidia was pretty excited for Christmas morning to get here also because she would not fall asleep! Or maybe it was because her fever broke and she started feeling better for the time being... either way that little girl was up until past 10pm! Christmas morning we woke up bright and early and opened stockings and presents and had a great time! Lidia fell asleep half-way through and was still not feeling well so we took turns opening her gifts. Her favorite gift was... well... anything that she can chew on! Momma's favorite gift was her coach purse! Yes, my first coach purse and I love it! Another great gift/story was that my mom got Ami and I charm bracelets for Christmas and I actually got my mom the same thing! I love mine and will wear it everyday because it reminds me of my awesome family and my awesome baby girl! The remaining pictures are obviously not the best of Lidia. I'm sure you can tell that she's been miserable since I haven't been able to get any pictures of her smiling in the past week. She really hasn't been smiling or even herself lately and I hope my next post will say that she is back to being healthy, happy, and normal... Lidia deserves it!

P.S. Did you notice that every picture is of her in a bib? Yes... she can't be without one or else her outfit is soaked in .02 seconds! Needless to say, she got a lot of bibs for Christmas!!

Also... When we went to the doctor yesterday, her doctor said that Lidia looks the same size as her 9 months olds, weighing in at a whooping 17 lbs. 10 oz!!! She said she looks very healthy and skinny but just very tall! I wonder where she gets that from??? Her father... And the doctor said that she is very advanced by being able to sit up so well at her age! I'm so proud of you Lidi!!

Sorry for my lack of pictures lately...

But for some reason the internet is not working right at our house so I haven't been able to upload pictures from my camera to my computer. Pictures from my phone will have to do for now but I promise I will get some pictures up from our awesome trip to South Dakota as soon as I can! If you can't tell what these pictures are, they are pictures of Lidia on a huge stuffed animal horse that Matt's mom got. My favorite is the very first one! It looks like she's actually riding a horse with her arm in the air! (And no, this wasn't staged! She's just a smart baby!)

Friday afternoon and evening we went Christmas shopping with G'ma Debbie, Aunt Ami, and Aunt Chloe. I got most of my presents bought that evening and that was a huge load lifted off my shoulders! I love Christmas time and buying presents for my family that I love OH SO MUCH! Saturday, we woke up and I drove Lidia to her dad's house to spend the day with him and his family. She got to enjoy her cousin, Aidan's, fourth birthday party and went to see Santa at the mall. Sunday we went to G'ma Debbie's house to make Christmas cookies, nap, and wrap Christmas presents. While wrapping presents, we witnessed my daughter starting to scoot her way across the floor. She was after one of her own presents. (Yes, G'ma let her see one of her presents early...) Anyway, Lidia gets on her belly, gets her knees up under her tummy and pushes her way towards whatever she wants. It won't be long until I have a mobile baby! Later that night, we went to church to see Aunt Ami and the church choir perform a Christmas concert. Once again, Lidia was the highlight of the evening by squealing with laughter at the quietest part of the concert, causing her Aunt who was on stage and the rest of the audience to burst into laughter. Yep, that's my daugher! Gotta love her!

Britt and Lidia and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day!

One of my favorite books when I was little was Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. I loved that book along with Goodnight Moon. Anyway, I thought the title fit Lidia and I's flight day home from Rapid City extremely well. Our flight out there went very well and the trip was very fun and relaxing! Lidia loved spending time with her Grandpa Todd and Toni and they loved her just as much. We spent Saturday going to Keystone to see where Grandpa worked, driving in the Black Hills, (It's been two years since I've been out there so I've missed the scenery!) going to lunch at one of my favorite restaurants, and visiting with Toni's boss. Sunday was spent hanging around the house and watching the Packers! Grandpa isn't a big fan of football so him and Lidia spent the afternoon napping. I loved walking into his bedroom and seeing them cuddling. It made my day! It was a very short trip but very worth it until..... Monday morning. (Even though the day was horrible, it was still worth it :)

So onto our "very bad day"... Lidia and I had a 6:40AM flight on Monday morning. I woke up around 4:00am to have plenty of time to get to the airport because it was snowing and the weather was bad. We ended up getting to the airport at 6:10AM. This is a half hour before my flight and the exact time they tell you to be there. So we walk up to the airline counter to check my bag and get my boarding pass and there were two security guards standing there telling me they think I missed the cutoff. Instead of getting someone to help, they just walked away. So we stood there until 7:00am with noone at the ticket counter and noone in sight. When someone finally came to the counter, we found out that since it's such a small airport, once it hits a half hour before the flight time the same people that check you in also board you, so they leave the counter and there is no way I could have gotten on the flight. It was very upsetting because I missed my flight and it wasn't completely my fault and the employees were being very rude! Also, the flight didn't end up leaving until almost 8AM and I wasn't the only one that missed my flight because of this airport! But, I put on my glass half-full face and said, "At least it's more time with Grandpa, right Lidia?"

So we were able to get on a flight around 11:00am that flew into Minneapolis. Once I got into Minneapolis, we had a long layover and the flight was also delayed two hours. So we didn't get into Omaha until about 7pm! Then I had to get my bag, along with a 5 month old, a diaper bag, and a purse and stand in the freezing cold to wait for a shuttle to my car for at least twenty minutes. Then I got to my car and it was frozen shut and my windows were pure ice. Finally, a nice man came and helped me and I was able to get on the road. We drove home from Omaha and finally got home late Monday evening. So yes, it was a terrible day and I can't tell you how many times I had to go to the bathroom in the airports with an infant sitting on my lap but it was definitley an experience that I will never forget and people were very helpful throughout the day. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger and Lidia and I are definitely stronger and inseparable. She made the horrible day ten times better just by smiling and entertaining the passengers on each flight. I love my little baby!!
I will post pictures of us in South Dakota when I get home.

5 months old... WOW!

Lidia was born at 6:46pm 5 months ago today. At 6:46 tonight, Lidia and I will be in Omaha, Nebraska boarding a plane! We are going to see my dad in Rapid City, South Dakota and we are very excited! Please pray for Lidia and I. We are traveling by ourselves to Omaha and then flying to Rapid City alone, with a stop in Minneapolis. It should be an interesting evening!

I really feel like Lidia is becoming a little, big person. I was watching her today in her exercauser while I was getting ready for work and I just found myself staring in amazement at her. This little baby in the exercauser that is reaching for everything in sight, moving from one toy to the next, talking and entertaining herself, and just being plain happy is the same baby that was fully dependent on me just months ago. When you look at it that way, it's very crazy to think about. She has progressed so much and I am truly so proud of her every single day!

Here's some 5 month facts about the princess:

Weight: Her last Dr.'s appointment a few weeks ago, she was 16 lbs.

Height: between 25 and 26"

Diaper Size: 2. I'm going to switch to size 3 when the size 2 are out which should be this weekend. (Side note: This will be the first time I will have to buy diapers since she was born! A big thanks to everyone that contributed to that! Oh and I still have a HUGE box of size 1 diapers at home that were never used. We've been so blessed!)

Clothing Size: 6 months

Sleeping: She has two naps per day and they usually last between 1 to 2 hours. I started putting her to bed earlier at night. She is now getting her bath around 7pm, eating, and then going to bed around 7:30. She usually gets up twice in the middle of the night. She will sometimes get up only once but very rarely. I'm trying my hardest to get her to sleep through the night but nothing seems to work!

Eating: 5-6 oz every 2-3 hours. She eats her rice cereal once a day, right before her bath at night.

Favorite Toys: Exercauser and her flower that G'ma Schneiter got her

Favorite Thing To Do: Entertain her friends and family and still pull momma's hair!

Latest Milestones: SITTING UP! Well... she can sit up on her own for about 5-10 seconds before falling over. My goal is to have her sitting up completely by Christmas... we'll see! She is also rolling over both ways consistently now!

Babbling: She never stops!

Looking Forward to: Her first Christmas, crawling, solid foods, and consistent sitting up.

Newest Toy/Item: Am I bad? I haven't bought her anything recently! Christmas is coming soon so she'll get plenty then!

Santa Clause is comin' to town!

Lidia got her toes painted for the first time. What you CAN'T see is that only half of her right toenails got painted and there is a large spot of polish on her right leg. Do you even have to ask why????
On Saturday, Santa Clause came to visit G'ma and G'pa Schneiter's house! He has been coming to the house since Chloe was little and we thought we'd keep the tradition going with Lidia! Alaina, Lindsey, and Lacie all came over with their children to see Santa and eat potato soup, cheese and crackers, and Chloe and I's famous pickle wraps! We had a blast!

We have several Christmas traditions throughout the holiday season. The first one begins with everyone coming together at my parent's house to put ornaments on the Christmas tree. All of us have our own ornaments to put up and we get new ones each year. We will keep this tradition up with Lidia too! She was able to put the angel on the top of the tree with G'ma this year! (This is a very special honor. Her grandma doesn't love her, does she???)

Yes, she's already getting into the Christmas tree. She loves to lay right beside it and play with the stuffed animal ornaments that hang on the bottom.
Grandpa Ro reading "The night before Christmas" to Lidia for the first time!

::: Neener Neener Neener!! :::

That's what Lidia says to sleeping! I'm assuming that my post last week had some sort of curse on the fact that Lidia slept through the night because that only happened ONE NIGHT! Now we are back to everything being off schedule. She's hardly eating her rice cereal at night and instead of going to bed at 9pm, she's falling asleep around 8pm now. She then wakes up between 1am and 2am and then again around 4 or 5am. She's also decided to not sleep during the day either!!HELP! Seriously. How do I get this child to be on a regular schedule instead of all over the place? How do I get her to sleep through the night OR I'd be happy with getting up only once! I feel like I've tried everything! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

You know you're a mom when...

You have accidentally brushed your teeth with Desitin.
You have caught spit-up in your hand.
You leave for a date with a diaper bag instead of your purse.
You let your baby sit in his dirty diaper until Oprah (in my case Desperate Housewives:) is over.
You have shared a fifteen-minute conversation about your baby with a complete stranger at the grocery store.
You filled up your child's baby book before her first tooth appeared.
You silently curse people if they call during naptime.
You are just as surprised when you sleep through the night as when your child does.
You consider it a major triumph if you shower by noon.
You justify every excessive crying spell with teething.
You pick up the phone and call your mother when your baby rolls over for the first time.
You have your pediatrician's telephone number on speed-dial.
You own the entire Baby Einstein DVD collection.
You have considered trading your whole life savings for just one good night of sleep.
You see your parents in a whole new light.
You consider parenting to be the best job in the world.
You can't bear to give away baby clothes - it's so final.
You stop criticizing the way your mother raised you.
You hire a sitter because you haven't been out in ages, then spend half the night checking on the kids.
You have time to shave only one leg at a time.
You hide in the bathroom to be alone.
Your kid throws up and you catch it.
Someone else's kid throws up at a party. You keep eating.
You use your own saliva to clean your child's face.
Your purse is crammed with emergency toys, candy and first aid supplies.
You can talk on the phone, pack a lunch & breast feed all once.
You wonder why it was you ever feared being alone.
You spend an entire week wearing sweats.
You say at least once a day, "I'm not cut out for this job", but you know you wouldn't trade it for anything.

And the winner of the ugliest pajamas goes to.....

LIDIA!!! I'm pretty sure these pj's were found on one of my old baby dolls at my parents house. On the subject of pajamas, since pj's has to do with sleeping (usually) I thought I would let everyone know that Lidia has decided this weekend that she doesn't like naps anymore. Don't get me wrong, she's still tired and tries to fall asleep but once her head hits that mattress her eyes pop open, she looks up at me and starts squealing! Its hard to get mad at the most nosey baby in the world that just doesn't want to miss a thing!

Thanksgiving weekend was a success! It was full of food, family, and fun! Grams taught Lidia "So big!" and now her hands are always up in the air as you can see in the picture below. She also found her feet for the first time so if her hands aren't up in the air for "so big" or in her mouth, they are usually grabbing her feet. Sorry Lidia, I think you got a combination of your momma and daddy's feet... and that's not a good thing!

The 'big people' weren't the only ones that got to enjoy Thanksgiving food. Lidia also got her first taste of solid foods this weekend. I thought it was the appropriate time to try some green beans and pears baby food on Thanksgiving and she hated it! I had to switch back to the rice cereal and sneak a little in the cereal so she could get used to the taste. Don't think Grandpa let Lidia get away without trying some 'big people' food though. Lidia had tastes of pumpkin pie, gravy, potatoes, and more! Spoiled? Yes!

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Lidia slept through the night! We had family stopping through town from Kansas last night and we went to a late dinner with everyone. We didn't get home until about 9pm so of course Lidia was off her normal sleep schedule. I hurried and got her ready for bed but by the time she was settled down and asleep it was about 9:30. She then slept all through the night until 6:00am! She got up, took a bottle, and slept for another hour before she was up for the day at about 7am! What a great baby! Maybe I need to get her off her sleep schedule more often :)

Anyway, I wanted to share about Lidia's big news today! Have a great day!

Finally....

... figured out what's been wrong with my baby! After 4 months of taking Lidia to one pediatrician and that doctor continually saying nothing was wrong, I decided to get a second opinion and I'm definitely glad I did!! I stayed home with Lidia on Friday because she had been very grumpy and I knew she was sick so I took her to a different doctor on Friday. This is the doctor that Alaina (Lidia's babysitter) takes all her kids to. Turns out, the reason for Lidia's frequent colds, congestion, and raspy sounds in her throat is because she has reflux. This is not a huge deal, it just has to do with the way she digests her food, the way she is fed, and how much she is eating. So the doctor told me to put her on a different formula, make sure she is always propped; whether eating or just playing, and make sure her crib is propped to help the reflux dissapear. I also found out that she has an ear infection so she was put on Amoxicillin for that and she is DEFINITELY teething as well. The doctor I took her to 4 days earlier said that she was not teething and that she did not have an ear infection. So my suggestion to all you mommies out there, only you know your baby and it's always good to get a second opinion to help your little peanut feel better!!

Weekend update: On Friday I stayed home from work, like I said earlier, to take Lidia to the doctor. It was pay day (yay!!) so Lidia and I decided to venture to the mall after the appointment to get mommy some new pants for work. WELL as most of you can guess, I ended up with no pants for me and more stuff for Lidia! That night G'ma Schneiter stopped by for a bit to bring Lidia some new toys and to say hi but other than that it was an early movie night for both us. Saturday was an AMAZING mommy day. Lidia spent the day with her father in Winterset with family and friends and mommy and G'ma went and got hot stone massages courtesy of Matt! They were amazing and I spent the afternoon on the couch with the best nap of my life since Lidia was born! On Sunday and Monday, Lidia and I spent most of the day around the house just being lazy and trying to get her to feel better. Grams came in from Tennesee so we spent both Sunday and Monday evening over at my parents house and had a great time!

An update to all of you that knew I was starting a new sleep schedule with Lidia... she's doing pretty well!! It's hard because her teeth are bothering her and she's not feeling well with the ear infection but for the most part she's doing great. I got her into a regular bedtime pattern of feeding her rice cereal between 6 and 7pm. Then I give her a bath between 8 and 8:30pm, feed her a bottle, then I put her to bed awake by 9pm and let her fall asleep on her own instead of in my arms. I turn on a CD player that hangs on her crib with a little light on it and she is usually asleep within 10-20 minutes. Sometimes she cries and sometimes she laughs and talks herself to sleep! Her newest trick however (she's so smart!) is to roll over on her back so I have to come in and roll her back over. I'm pretty sure she just wants to hear me say, "I love you precious" one more time! Other than that, she's usually sleeping from 9pm - 3am, takes a bottle, then falls right back to sleep until about 6:00 or 6:30am. Lidia getting more sleep = a happier baby and a happier momma!

One last thing, Lidia and I want to say Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! Thursday will be here in a few days and we wish safe travels to everyone that is headed out of town for the holiday. We will be staying in town enjoying the holiday with Grams who is in town from Tennesee. So... don't eat too much and make sure to relax with your friends and family and enjoy the time together! We love you all!

(Happy Birthday Aunt Jo! We can't wait to see you and your family tonight!)

Just missing my peanut...

~Happy Wednesday!!~
Just sitting here on my break at work and missing my little girl so I thought I'd share some pictures of her that I have on my phone. Some of these are old and some are new but I hope you will enjoy all of them!!! Love, Britt

The above picture was taken of Lidia at 19 weeks. This is the day we found out we were having a little baby girl! We were waiting in the doctor's office after the ultrasound and that is when we decided on the name Lidia. I give all recognition to her dad for picking out the name. He did a great job! The below picture was taken on July 8, 2009. This was just three days before the princess was born.

This was G'ma and G'pa Schneiter's idea of fun. While mommy was turned around, G'pa put his ugly cyclone hat on Lidia. She even looks cute in Red and Gold but she told me she prefers the black and gold!

Wrestle-mania night with Aunt Chloe! Aunt Chloe can get Lidia to laugh and smile any time she looks at her! I like to tell Chloe it's because her face is so funny! I'm joking of course but I really think that Lidia loves how much Chloe loves her. This all started back when she was still in my belly. Aunt Chloe was the first one to feel Lidia kick besides me! Afterwards, I would try and have my other family members feel it but she wouldn't do it for anyone besides Chloe until later of course when she had no more room!

HAHAHA! This is my all-time favorite picture of Lidia! She is doing nothing other than going to her first business meeting! What else would a 3 month old do during the day??

Here is Lidia hanging out with the girls on our usual Wednesday night's at Paglia's pizza. Lacie and Steph always tell me how obsessed they are with her. Can you blame them?!? The picture below is of Lidia and her cousin Zoey. Zoey is in 2nd grade and loves to hold and play with Lidia any chance she can get. I can tell they will be very close growing up!
