I love being a stepmom!

Wow. That's kind of weird to say... step-mom. But seriously, I love being one. The best way I can describe it is how my mom describes being a grandma. It's a special bond and love that you can't describe. You would be there for them in a heartbeat, you miss them like crazy when they are gone, you love seeing/talking/playing with them, but at the end of the day weekend, they have to go home. Don't get me wrong, I'm sad when she has to go home and would love for her to be here all the time (just like a grandparent) but I do have two other kiddos that are I'm responsible for all the time, so it's nice to enjoy our time with Bella, when she is here! It doesn't help that she is gorgeous, funny, full of life, full of funny sayings, and loves her Bert! (me)

She also loves playing with Bailey and Bailey actually loves her back! (Bailey's not the biggest fan of the other two babes) She's such a good helper too. She always wants to help feed Carly. She shares toys really well with Lidia, and definitely keeps her entertained. This weekend we played a lot of Wii. She's at the age where she wants to play so "we let her" aka when I bowl, she actually thinks that she is bowling and winning! We also played Just Dance and the girls loved showing off their dance moves all weekend!

She's a daddy's girl. If he's not in the room, she's always asking, "Where'd daddy go?" They are pretty much obsessed with each other! This weekend Matt said, "I'm gonna go outside to take the trash out." Bella said, "Who, her?" And pointed at me! HA! I'm assuming she wanted me to kick rocks and be alone with her dad!

Another funny thing she said this weekend was, Matt asked her if she had to go potty after she woke up from her nap on Saturday afternoon.
She said, "No... I already went potty!" (Like she was proud of herself)
Matt said, "Did you pee the bed Bella?"
She said, "Yep! I peed in YOUR bed"
Pointing at me and laughing... hard.

Is this a theme? Is she starting to hate her "Bert"???
The best part about our weekend was last night. We put Carly to bed in her crib and within the hour it was bedtime for Bella and Lidia too. Instead of putting them in their own beds, we scooped them up and had a slumber party in our king-sized bed! We had just watched the sheets (because remember? Bella peed in MY bed) so they were nice and toasty. We put on some tv, and all four of us were asleep within a half hour! Now, this is a treat because I don't like Lidia out of her bed because then she wants that all the time, but we just had to do it and it melted my heart to sleep with my family like that! But around midnight, I headed into Carly's room (we have another bed in there) because the girls had bascially taken over the entire bed! It was still fun though and I think we'll start doing it once a year, and I can't wait for Carly to join in next time!

I hope everyone had a great weekend... I know we did! I leave you with a video of Bella and Lidia keeping each other entertained... I love it!

I despise Barney.
Lidia is obsessed with the purple dinosaur.
She obviously wins.

Just another day in paradise...

"The kids screaming, phone ringing
Dog barking at the mailman bringing
That stack of bills - overdue
Good morning baby, how are you?
Got a half hour, quick shower
Take a drink of milk but the milk's gone sour
My funny face makes you laugh
Twist the top on and I put it back
There goes the washing machine
Baby, don't kick it.
I promise I'll fix it
Long about a million other things..."

"Well, it's ok. It's so nice.
It's just another day in paradise
Well, there's no place that I'd rather be
Well, it's two hearts, and one dream
I wouldn't trade it for anything
And I ask the Lord every night,
For just another day in paradise"

"Friday, you're late
Guess we'll never make our dinner date
At the restaurant you start to cry
Baby, we'll just improvise
Well, plan B looks like
Dominoes' pizza in the candle light
Then we'll tippy toe to our room
Make a little love that's overdue
But somebody had a bad dream
Mama and daddy
Can me and my teddy
Come in to sleep in between?"

Well, it's ok. It's so nice.
It's just another day in paradise.
Well, there's no place that I'd rather be
Two hearts, And one dream
I wouldn't trade it for anything
And I ask the Lord every night
For just another day in paradise..."

Kinda fits my life and I'm sure most lives out there right now, huh?
So what's been going on?
  • We found out yesterday that Miss Lidia Adel has to get tubes put in AGAIN and this time she will be getting her adnoids out as well. My Lil Miss has another double ear infection, sleeping terribly, and I can't wait for her to get back to normal! She's saying and doing the funniest things right now, though. My mind is blank on what her latest thing is... probably because she never stops talking and is always doing something daily that I say to Matt, "Where'd she learn that from?!"She is just hilarious and for some reason obsessed with her Papa and Bubba right now. I still hear Mommy, Mommy, Mommy! at least 82 times a day, so I'm not worried! I love my BIG GIRL so much!
  • My hubby turned 25 last week and this weekend we had a surprise bday party for him and our friend Lacie, and it turned out awesome! Sorry I didn't tell ya'll about it but he reads the blog (Hi babe!) so I had to keep in on the hush hush. We went to Sleepy Hollow, (a skiing, snowboarding, and tubing park) rented out a party room, and went tubing! It was fun and different and my family and our kiddos even got to join! I don't have any pictures from the weekend because my camera broke (urrgh) so we took pictures via a disposable camera. (ghetto I know but kinda fun, right?!)
  • Saturday, my precious baby turned 6 months old!!! She is getting so big! I know I've said this before but she is the sweetest, most precious thing ever! I've had my fair share of trials and tribulations with my first born (sorry Lid, you know I love you and you've been my little sidekick since day one) but Carly is just amazing. Lidia will take a toy away from her and she just smiles. She will get bonked on the head with yet another toy, of course she cries, but just goes right back to smiling. She's ticklish, she laughs at her crazy sister, she sits up great, naps good, loves her rice cereal and starting to eat actual solids, she's definitely my sleeper in the family, and I love her big blue eyes. She is my world.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Wordless Wednesday

Happy Birthday Hubby!

Happy 25th Birthday to the hardest working, most dedicated, extremely loving, hilarious, handsome, husband and dad ever! I'm so proud to be his wife and he makes the girls and I happy every single day. Including this beauty that got to hang out with him this morning at work!

Oh, and tonight we get to go out to dinner ALL BY OURSELVES! Thank you Mamaw for watching the girls, and thank you to whoever got us the millions of giftcards to restaurants from our wedding that we haven't been able to use yet! I'm already hungry...

Going a little stir crazy

I'm sure you've heard of the winter blues before... I think we have them! It's too cold to do anything, there's snow on the ground, taking two kids anywhere is an experience in itself, plus the girls are home all day with a babysitter while I'm at work 3 days a week, so I'm sure they might have it a little more than I do. So this is what we've been doing to entertain ourselves...
Nakey play time and the typical no pants playtime (with crazy socks and crazy hats?)
Showing off our rad sitting up skillllllzz (throw a Barney hat in the mix too!)
Play "This is the way we go to church" with Aunt Bubba and MaMaw)
Dressing up in Barney costumes and cute headbands
Melting mommy's heart with just a smile :)
Dressing up in crazy hats again with rainboots... oh and more nakey time! (I didn't stage this, I seriously found her in our hallway with this hat on, and putting on these rainboots!)

Running away from Mommy, getting into everything, watching Barney, playing with our new Barney doll and our new kitchen set, coloring, reading, and of course taking lots and lots of pictures...
What do you do in the winter to keep your kids entertained?

Thoughtless Thursday!

To join in the fun, link-up with Katie for Thoughtless Thursday!
What other group of people fit so well into Thoughtless Thursday but the cast of Jersey Shore?! I'm pretty sure not one of them have a normal thought in their brains but for one reason or another, I love that show! I love the drama, big hair, fights, and did I mention drama?! I look forward to watching it with my hubby every Thursday night after the kiddos are in bed. Call us crazy, but we love it!
Another trainwreck of a show but I'm still totally addicted! Yes, they all have their baggage, but I actually like most of the girls this season (so far) except Jenelle. I want to slap a sense of reality into that girl. As moms we talk about needing our mommy time, but this girl is taking it to the extreme. Going out several times a week, sleeping in and letting her mom take her baby to daycare in the morning while she is still in bed? Really? Oh how I would love to sleep in after a night out, or sleep in after staying up way past my mommy bedtime watching a movie with my hubby, but you better believe that I'm up bright and early in the morning with my leading ladies. In fact, I'm probably up at 3am, 6am, and 8am if you catch my drift. Some people just don't get it! I do feel sorry that her mom doesn't let her dress her son though...(insert sarcasm here) Ha, that is her only concern and it makes me laugh.

Newborn picturess of both girls in the same outfit... Can you tell who is who?
And.. a little laughter for your Thursday!
They are male, because they hold everything in, but you can see right through them.
These are female, because once turned off; it takes a while to warm them up again. They are an effective reproductive device if the right buttons are pushed, but can also wreak havoc if you push the wrong Buttons.
Tires are male, because they go bald easily and are often over inflated
Also a male object, because to get them to go anywhere, you have to light a fire under their butt.
Female, because they're constantly being looked at and frequently getting hit on.
Definitely male, because they always use the same old lines for picking up people.
Male, because in the last 5000 years, they've hardly changed at all, and are occasionally handy to have around.
THE REMOTE CONTROL: (my favorite)
Female. Ha! You probably thought it would be male, but consider this: It easily gives a man pleasure, he'd be lost without it, and while he doesn't always know which buttons to push, he just keeps trying.

I got this email from a friend and wanted to share! Anyone else love reading funny emails like this??? Maybe doing a link-up to share some funny emails might be a good idea?? I've been thinking of starting my own link-up, or pairing up with someone to do one, so if you're interested in starting some sort of link-up, let me know!

Have a Happy Thoughtless Thursday!
and remember... 100 followers = giveaway! Tell your friends! :)

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

  • I'm loving the cute little red cowboy boots Lidia is wearing today.
  1. Shame on me for not having a picture of her in them.
  2. Shame on pediped for not letting me save a picture of them to show you either! But if you are dying to see them, go HERE! I promise they are adorable, and on sale!
  • I'm loving trying to pick out the girls outfits for their upcoming pictures! I haven't set a date yet (or have a photographer so suggestions are welcome) but Lidia turned 18 months yesterday and Carly turns 6 months in less than 2 weeks, so I thought it'd be perfect to get them done this month. (Shame on me for not getting professional pictures of Carly yet!) I was thinking about having them both in jean jumpers but then I saw this....
  • I'm loving this swimsuit for the summer for both girls! A little too early to be thinkinig about it but I saw it on BabyGap online (where I found the jumper above) and died! I've never seen an infant/toddler one shoulder swimsuit... LOVE!
  • I'm loving/getting excited to take the girls sledding tonight!
  • I'm loving that Lidia actually didn't cry when falling asleep last night! Progress people, although that didn't last throughout the night. I'm also loving that I googled (yes I'm that girl that googles everything) to get some suggestions for sleep solutions for Lidia (because the doctor didn't help/no ear infections for a cause either) and there is some sort of 18 month sleep regression that a lot of toddlers go through. It made me feel a little better and not like a total mom failure!
  • I'm loving that Carly is sitting up so well, playing with toys, and her smile makes my entire day that much better!
  • I'm loving the idea to have a giveaway when I reach 100 followers! I've seen a lot of people doing this, so I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon! So help a sister out! All you fellow lurkers come out and all you faithful followers share the news to all your friends! This will be my first giveaway, so you know it will be a good one!
Happy Wednesday Everyone!

When you give a mouse kid a cookie some snow...

They run away from home???
Yes, Lidia is still being that naughty that she quite possibly was contemplating running away when we let her outside last night to enjoy some snow! I kid, I kid. But she still isn't herself at all. I thought last night was some progress, because for the first time in weeks she slept in her bed until 6am! But today was another story for the books...

Today is her 18 month birthday!!
I can't believe I have an 18 month old! I'm taking her to the doctor this afternoon for her 18 month check-up. Mainly because it's an excuse to get her checked out to see if anything is bothering her that I don't know about sickness-wise and to possibly get some advice from the doctor! We shall see!

It's my party and I'll cry if I want to...

Well it was another interesting day with the kiddos. I only work Tuesday-Thursday, so today on our day off together I thought it'd be a good idea to let the girls get out of the house. It's winter, it's cold, and people get the winter blues, so I thought maybe Lidia might be going through something like that too. So we headed to the mall to play at the play place. There were instant screams of joy when we walked inside and Lidia saw what we were doing! She climbed the stairs to the slide. Then slid back down the stairs. Yes, she slides down stairs, not slides. Success! I thought to myself... We have a happy toddler and a happy baby!

That lasted a whole 15 minutes and out of nowhere (Seriously it was like she realized she was having fun and she thought to herself "No I can't have fun, I must torture mom some more!") anyway out of nowhere she threw the biggest fit. I'll admit I'm the mom whose face blushes and will do anything to get her kid to stop crying... I get so embarrassed! But I got myself and the kiddos together and left the play place. My best friend works at a hair salon at the mall, so we headed to see her because she always puts a smile on their faces. Lidia kicked and screamed the whole time in the stroller, and I hid my head in shame and carried on. Carly wasn't happy either. Once we got to the salon, the girls were in full force crying and both only wanting Mommy.

So instead of realizing it was just time to go home, we decided to grab lunch. Maybe this would cheer them up? Plus it was lunch time. Again, no bueno. Lidia wanted on my lap, then off my lap, then to spill this, then to eat that, etc. Carly was tired and wanted to be held or rocked to sleep, so obviously this made for an interesting lunch. At that point I remembered that it had been forever since I had taken either one or both out to eat and that was why. So it was time to head home and get naps. Nap time was successful for Carly, she slept 3 1/2 hours! But Lidia, again notsomuch. She woke up an hour after she laid down and fell back asleep in bed with me for maybe another hour. This kid has got to be exhausted. Dont get me started on her previous night's sleep! So since Lidia woke up she's been a crab. Crying, yelling, not playing, and she didn't even want to play in the Barney costume my mom brought over for her! It took her another hour to lay her down tonight for bedtime and she is currently (don't judge me, I need my sanity and Matt's gone for the weekend so with two kids to take care of, it was basically a neccessity) Lidia is in my bed snoozing after screaming for an hour. So I'm beat. Emotionally, physically, and mentally. I want Lidia back! Wish me luck on this weekend, and hopefully the next time I post I will have some happy news on a happy baby with some happy pictures!

This little one is keeping me together though! She's so sweet and smiles at me just at my breaking point to let me know it will all be okay! She knows that her sissy will get back to normal... someday :)
Lid in the bath last week. Her favorite time of the day... she could stay in there for hours! This week? Should I even say it? Notsomuch...

January 06, 2011

will be being made in our household. Effective? Immediately.
And here's why...
  • Lidia loves Barney and her Praise baby DVD's. = watching t.v. instead of playing. And please noone mention the "B word" around her when Barney isn't playing, you might get hit. No bueno. My house will not be full of kids that would rather watch t.v. instead of reading books, playing with toys, playing outside, or just spending time with family.
  • Lidia hates her highchair = wanting to eat all meals at her "big girl table" (which I'm fine with) or walking around the house or sitting on the couch eating. (which I'm NOT fine with)
  • Lidia loves sweets = bye bye healthy food, hello screaming when she doesn't get the food she wants and probably a huge dental bill later if this continues...
  • Lidia has a new found hate for her bed (previous post talking about it HERE) = crying for an hour at bedtime, waking up at 2am for more screaming (seriously sometimes I have to check that someone isn't in there hurting her, it's that loud!), Mommy laying on her bedroom floor next to her crib just to get her to sleep, more crying when she realizes I crawled on all fours and snuck out of her room when I thought she had fallen asleep, waking up her sister, and eventually ending up in our bed at 4am smiling and laughing and saying, "Hi!" because she finally got what she wanted.
So, the happy, smiley, hilarious baby that you see in all the pictures I post?? She is gonezo and I want her back! Terrrible twos a little early? Sister jealousy finally kicking in? Is it my fault because I have two babies under two and we have to keep our sanity by giving in when we shouldn't? My daughter is just too smart for her own good? All of these questions I keep asking myself and blaming myself for what has happened. Instead of placing blame or asking questions though, I have decided to take action. We introduced Barney, allowed her to sit on the recliner to eat breakfast while getting ready or trying to take care of our other daughter, gave her a cookie here or there, and allowed her to sleep in our bed when she was sick. All of these things I "allowed" are valid to do occassionally for any toddler, but we aren't working with your average kid over here. I'm pretty sure we are working with a genius (what mom doesn't think that about their baby, amen?!) that knows how to get what she wants and when she wants it! So I have to figure out a way to reverse what has been done.
  • A little t.v. action in the morning when I'm getting ready for work (c'mon I have to have a little break to shower right?! plus Barney teaches you to share and she definitely could use a lesson on sharing!) but the rest of the day should be mostly for playing, napping, kisses, and lots more playing!
  • I bought her a booster seat to sit at our dining room table for all meals of the day. Also, we will try to have family dinners weekly when Matt comes home early from work. I grew up with family dinners and I think it's extremely important.
  • See ya later sweets. End. Of. Story.
  • The bedtime situation is a little difficult though. I will continue to let her cry until she falls asleep at night and try and let her cry it out when/if she wakes up at 3am but I have no promises. I HAVE to sleep. My 5 month old HAS to sleep. My husband HAS to sleep and so does Lidia. One thing at a time right? But as my love said to me last night at 3am when I was at my wits end... "She's been doing it for half a year now, she knows how to sleep through the night, she figured it out then and she will figure it out now." (Or something similar to that) And he's right, she always does... Remember she's a genius right?!
I sure hope these changes work. I sure hope it's just a phase. I sure hope the whining will stop. I sure hope my baby comes back!
... and as I just finished up writing this I got a text from her babysitter. No joke it said,
"I just fed Lidia her lunch. After she was done eating I said, "Time for night night Lidia?" Lidia said, "Uh huh! Yeah!" and she picked up her Maymee (Blankie) and paci and walked straight into her bedroom. She got into bed, laid down, and was out in 5 minutes with no crying."

REALLY?! Either she's playing a nasty trick on her mom, or she's getting back in the swing of things...

BUT want to hear about a good change?!?!?
CARLY IS SITTING UP ALL ON HER OWN! She's been trying to sit for a little while now and able to do it for a few minutes at a time, but she literally just started doing it for realsies yesterday! She will sit up for about ten minutes all by herself. She's got some really good balance and she is so proud of herself... smiling the whole time she's doing it! She's only 5 months old too! Pure genius I tell ya! ;)
