26 in 26

I'm linking up with Erin for my 26 things in my 26 years. This year I will....

1. First and foremost. Make this year great.
This year has definitely been one of the more "trying" years in my existence so far. From finances to random bad luck. From relationships to stupid insurance companies. From stolen cars, lost rings, crazy drama, and crazy toddler years to etc. etc. etc. Let's just say this past year can... excuse my language but it can... suck it.
Starting now, let's make 26 great.

2. Go to church.
3. Take the girls somewhere new; Omaha Zoo, snow skiing, the Science Center, boating, etc.
4. Go to a concert.
5. Pay down on student loans.
6. Take a girls trip. Scratch that. I know I can't leave my babes for a trip like that. Let's just say a girls day? That's better. Girls day. Me and my besties. For an entire day. Sounds fabulous.
7. Take a photography class
8. Volunteer somewhere with the girls.
9. Get better at writing thank you notes
10. Stop being such a "people pleaser" but don't lose that entirely. Be proud in my own skin. I'm me. That's all I can be.
11. Finish painting the kitchen cabinets.
12. Go to an Iowa Hawkeyes home game.
13. Lose 15 - 20 pounds. Eat healthy. Work out. (crazy concept, yes?)
14. Read more books
15. Grow my blog and ThirtyOne Business
16. Eat at one of the newer restaurants in town that I've been wanting to do for forever!
17. Marry Meet Channing Tatum
18. Do a random act of kindness
19. Go to the Drive-In movie theater
20. Spend less, save more. Or create a budget and actually stick to it.
21. Dress up more. Wear heels. Feel pretty again and not so "mom'ish"
22. Go to a winery.
23. Buy a new car. (Obviously I need one, since mine was stolen! ha!)
24. Go camping
25. Cook new (healthy) recipes
26. Have both girls completely potty trained!

Be Who You Want Them To Be

Isn't that the truth?
I want my girls to have good values, morals, and great manners.
I want them to be friendly, to help others, to believe in themselves, and most importantly HAVE FUN!
And who will they learn alot of that from? Me.
So here are a few of my parenting priorities while raising my kids...

I want my babes to be happy, to live a happy, fun-filled life.
(Oh, and I want them to wear pigtails, so I try that as often as I can too :)
I'm big on sharing. And cuddling.
And having a great relationship with family.
This picture below can be summed up as this:
my kiddos snuggling and sharing their grandpa's chair.
(After they stole it from him... ha!)
Bada bing. Bada boom.
Share. Cuddle. Family.
I want my kiddos to celebrate life. To celebrate people.
So I make birthdays a HUGE deal.
(I got it from my mama)
(Post to come on Carly's big birthday day!)
I want my babes to be best friends.
And these two girls?
They are best friends all on their own.
And this picture?
With their arm around each other, snuggling, while in the stroller?
Proves that they are and will be best friends for life.
Every mom wants their kids to be smart.
And since I already have the smartest kids in the world...
(Oh c'mon! I'm kidding! ha!)
I want them to be creative. To excel in what they are interested in.
I think I might have a little artist on my hands (Lidia)... and I'm totally ok with that!
Whatever they are interested in whether it be; music, dance, soccer, or chess club... bring it on!
 Keeping good friendships is important.
A good friend will always be there when you need them.
One day, those friends you had in high school, might be in the delivery room when your babies are born :)
Or there to take you out when you have a broken heart.
Either way, they need to know that when it comes to friendship... it's quality, not quantity.
Life's too short to sweat the small stuff.
Dig in.
Live a little.
Be adventurous.
Take risks (not too big of risks! ha!)
Laugh at yourself.
Have a sense of humor.
Get dirty!
Have fun in the sun.
Go to the pool.
Do crafts.
Enjoy the zoo.
Or riding bikes.
Swing. Slide. Play house.
Get out of the house.
Share snacks.
Look cute while doing all of the above!
I strive (everyday) to make sure the girls know how much I love them.
I can't leave for 5 minutes without giving them a kiss.
I kiss them while they are sleeping.
I kiss them when they don't want it... ha!
I want them to know that I will always be their biggest cheerleader.
And noone will love them as much as their mama!
I teach them to...
Jump around.
Enough said.

Happy 2nd Birthday Carly Joelle!!!

I scheduled this post for you at your exact time of birth two years ago, 12:11am.

You are 2 years old.

It's been 2 years since I first met you, my baby girl.

2 years ago I imagined what you would be like at this time. What will she look like? What will her personality be like?

You are everything and more than I could have imagined you would be.

You are Beautiful.
 You are creative.
You are energetic.
You are playful and hilarious
You are very social.
You are sassy and demanding :)
I love you to the moon.
I love your kisses.
And your hugs.
I love your little gymnast body.
I love how you are always naked.
I love your big blue eyes.
I love when you call me mommy.
I love how much you love your daddy and sissy.
I love how smart you are.
I love how talkative you are.
I love everything about you.

Happy Birthday baby girl!
(oh and terrible twos... please be good to us, mmmk?)

First things first...
Everyone is doing those Blogger 411 posts, right?
So cute. Such a good idea.
And as much as I love reading them, I decided against doing my post.
But since I was thinking about doing it, at one point I went on facebook to look at my "college days" for pictures to show you guys.
And since I already looked at them and saved them, I thought I might as well share them with you, right?
Who doesn't love a little trip down" silly, crazy, before being a mommy" lane??
(I'm smack dab in the middle)
This was my freshman year at Central College and all the girls on my floor in our dorm!
Here I am... talking on my Zach Morris phone, of course.
Best girls. Still!
No! We are NOT making out!
We are showing off our hair... for some strange reason.
We called this picture; chocolate and vanilla apparently :)
But it shows you how... umm... weird we were? I mean, how weird we are? hehe
Another fish face on St. Patty's Day?!
Why did I love that face so much?!
Umm hello ugly dark hair and wacky clothes!
(To this day, this picture is Matt's AIM profile pic... awesome :)

Annnnnyway, that was fun but onto my life as of lately!
(This life lately is much more fulfilling life then my college days, I might add :)
L & C being best friends/worst enemies.
One minute they snuggle/hug/kiss... the next?
Carly is biting Lidia on the arm and making me question whether the bite mark is infected...
and yes, it was THAT BAD!
Ice Cream Dates.
Snuggles with TORI!
Swimming at the wading pool.
Bella playing T-Ball!
Mexican dinners with Baby Josie and her family.
Holding hands at the park/wading pool!
Cruisin' in a Cadi.
Breakfast outside.
Naps with Kiki.

Saving the best for last...
This time?
She kept her princess heels on.
Priorities people, priorities.
