Spring Camping Trip 2013

We took a camping trip two weekends ago with a few friends. Although it was April and technically Spring, the weather for our camping trip wasn't that great. It was cold, then hot, then cold again. But overall, it was pretty decent weather and when we got cold we huddled around the campfire and that's what you're supposed to do anyway, right? Plus we had cabins with heat so we were pretty spoiled!

So a little back story for this trip. Our family and two other friends' families decided to book cabins about two hours away for a weekend camping trip. We ended up not being able to go camping with them, but my friends still decided to go. Long story short, very last minute (as in the night before) I was persuaded and peer pressured (hehe) into going camping with them.Well, Matt had a 5k race already scheduled that weekend, so he wasn't able to go and this meant that the girls and I went camping without him.

Anyway, the weekend ended up different then expected, as usual with 5 kids 5 and under but overall it was really fun! It definitely was not the relaxing weekend that I envisioned (I know I'm crazy.. relaxing?!? ha!) but we had a blast with all our friends, fishing, playing outside all day, riding bikes, blowing bubbles, making smores, and being in bed by 10pm each night. (HELLO?! Aren't adults supposed to have adult time around the campfire after the kids go to bed??  Apparently, we are old. And we were WORN OUT from the crazy kiddos :)

Anyway, enjoy our pictures from our weekend camping! If anyone is near southeast Iowa, you should definitely check this place out. I'd love to give you details if you're interested!
Bubbles.
Bikes.
Movies and popcorn before bed.
Baby Emery love.
More bikes.
(Lidia didn't know how to use the brakes, so she ruined two pairs of shoes by dragging her feet all weekend like the picture shows.)
Navin family.
Best buds.
Baseball.

Makeshift stroller out of my ThirtyOne cooler. HA!

Not even staged. They love each other.
Fishing!

Lidia caught a fish! And was scared to go near it but SO EXCITED to catch one!

Carly was more interested in the sand.
It was a great (exhausting) weekend!

Yay Lidia for catching a fish! When I was her age I was more interested in playing with the worms we used for bait lol :P

Yay, looks fun! We haven't done much camping with the girls so far---we plan to get a camper for next year though!

How stinkin' adorable is that baby in the polkadot hat?! :-)

Lidia looks like an angel! I love her smile! :) Anyways, your camping trip seemed to be a sure hit with the kids. They definitely would want to come back and catch some fish again. Camping is a nice way to introduce outdoor lifestyle to them and show them the beauty of nature. Omega Glatt
